WHY DO WE CALL PRF LIQUID GOLD?

Because it is!  We can PRF liquid gold for 2 reasons… First, it is gold in color!  Second, it is worth its weight in gold because of the incredible power it possesses.  Let’s dive in and learn more about PRF!

What is PRF

PRF is one of our favorite treatments for reversing the signs of aging.  This treatment is 100% natural, free of chemicals, and packed full of cells that enhance skin texture, firmness and can even help with hair growth.

PRF stands for platelet-rich fibrin.  Your provider will draw your blood and then place the vial of blood in a centrifuge, spin it at a low speed.   Your own personal PRF is then collected, which can be injected into many areas of the face and body.  Fibrin is a substance in our blood that helps your blood to clot during bleeding and helps with wound healing and collagen stimulation. This platelet rich fibrin matrix is composed of growth factors and cells that encourage our body to regenerate and heal.  The growth factors are released from the platelets for 7-10 days, which is great because your body is able to benefit from this extended healing.

How is PRF different from PRP?

PRP was the original treatment introduced into aesthetics, often called the vampire facial.  PRF is a newer treatment with some major differences.  Anti-clotting additives are used to create PRP, while PRF contains no additives.  This difference allows PRF to release growth factors longer and allows it to be 3 times more effective.

Benefits of PRF

Let’s start off by talking about collagen.  Collagen production is by far the biggest benefit of a PRF treatment,  Collagen is a protein in our body that keeps our skin from drying out and looking aged.  As we age, our collagen production naturally decreases and we slowly lose the collagen already produced. The concentrated growth factors is PRF stimulate new collagen production, which is turn helps with skin texture, firmness and discoloration.

A second benefit of PRF that is worth talking about, is safety.  Since PRF is obtained from your own blood, your body does not recognize it as foreign and there are little to no side effects.  PRF is a very safe treatment with the biggest risk being getting a small bruise from your blood draw.

A third benefit is long lasting results.  PRF rejuvenates your skin and scalp naturally, and results are very long lasting.  After a series of PRF treatments, you will notice that you look more vibrant for up to a year.

Where can we use PRF

At Amelie, our favorite places to use PRF are under your eyes and for hair growth.

Hair Growth-

Thinning hair can be caused by many different reasons such as metabolic issues, aging, vitamin deficiencies  and medications.  PRF in your scalp slows down hair loss and stimulates growth.  It can also improve your hairs texture and vitality.  We make sure your experience is comfortable and have many tools to help, such as topical numbing, cold ice spray and nerve blocks.  We recommend a series of 5 treatments and then maintenance appointments as needed every year.

Under Eyes

PRF is our favorite treatment for under-eye concerns.  PRF helps reduce dark pigmentation, improve texture and lines, and restore volume.  The skin under the eyes is one of the thinnest skin areas on our body.  It also shows aging early on.  Fillers were traditionally used to help in this area, but they do have some drawbacks.  They can make the under-eyes look puffy, and they don’t help with the fine lines or crepey skin.  PRF can significantly improve the appearance of our tear troughs and has become our first step to under-eye rejuvenation. We recommend 3 initial rounds and then a maintenance treatment every 6-12 months.
