One of the most beautiful days of your life is your wedding day – celebrating your commitment and love for your partner is nothing short of profound. The moments building up to your wedding are filled with joy as well; choosing your attire, picking a venue, and plenty more. Skincare is oftentimes a part of the wedding planning process, as you want to look and feel your best on your big day. With so much information floating around and a long to-do list, curating a routine and treatment plan can be stressful. At Amélie Specialized Aesthetics, we love helping everybody who walks through our doors enhance their natural beauty through effective treatment plans and curated at-home skincare routines. While we believe that every day is a special occasion, your wedding is one of the biggest – so here’s our guide to wedding-ready skin:

Meet with the Professionals:

Skincare can be overwhelming and confusing, and now is not the time to add any more stressors to your plate. Professionals like dermatologists, aesthetic injectors, and estheticians can help assess your skin and create a treatment plan tailored to your needs. The earlier you can get in for a consultation, the better – this will allow you time to perfect your treatment plan and your routine.

Try injectables: If you haven’t tried injectables yet, now is a great time to start. There are a variety of types of injectables that offer a range of benefits, including collagen stimulation, reduced fine lines and wrinkles, increased hydration, and more. Whether you want to plump your lips, define your cheekbones, or brighten your undereyes, we have you covered at Amélie. Schedule a consultation here with one of our incredible injectors.

Create a skincare regimen: Lindsey Shelman, CAE – one of our advanced estheticians – recommends the following when creating your skincare regimen:

  1. Start as early as possible
  2. Stick to the basics & focus on one issue at a time
  3. Stay consistent

Your daily at-home regimen is the most important part of your treatment plan – in-office treatments are the cherry on top. Your skin specialist can help curate the best routine based on your individual needs. Generally, an effective routine will consist of the following:

  • Cleanser: Removes impurities such as dirt, makeup, sweat, and more from the skin
  • Moisturizer: Nourishes skin’s barrier function, increases hydration & locks in helpful moisture
  • Sunscreen: Protects skin from harmful UVA/UVB rays that cause skin cancer and accelerated aging
  • Antioxidant: Works synergistically with sunscreen, and protects skin against oxidative damage
  • Retinoid: Increases production of collagen, reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
  • Treatment: Target a specific issue such as hyperpigmentation or redness

3-6 Months Before Wedding

Commit to your skincare routine: Again, consistency is key – some skincare products take extended periods before you see results, like with retinoids. It’s also important to minimize your risk of a bad reaction close to your wedding from trying new products.

1-2 Months Before Wedding

Final injectables treatment: Now is the time for your final injectables treatment! By getting treated 1-2 months away from your wedding, you will have enough time for any needed touch-ups, and still be within range to see the best results from your treatment(s).

Hydration

Your ideal final facial will be highly nourishing and hydrating rather than anything aggressive; your at-home routine should follow a similar approach. This will ensure that you aren’t dealing with any irritation, yet will still give you a glowing complexion.

Good food and good sleep: Getting enough sleep and eating well is important all year round! But as you get closer to your wedding, it is extra important to focus on these essentials. Your sleep habits and nutrition impact your skin, sometimes causing issues such as breakouts, dark circles, and more. For example, eating excess amounts of sodium can cause your skin to appear puffy. While exact nutritional needs vary by person, a balanced diet including anti-inflammatory, antioxidant-rich foods and plenty of water is helpful for glowing skin.

Skin and Aesthetic Treatments to Prepare for Your Big Day

Each individual’s skin conditions and needs may differ, making personalized advice essential – but in general, these are a few of our favorite services that would be perfect for wedding preparation:

Skincare

Dermaplaning: Dermaplaning is a skincare treatment in which a specialist uses a blade to shave away peach fuzz and dead skin cells, revealing a smoother and brighter complexion. Dermaplaning is great as both a standalone treatment, and a precursor to a more intensive treatment, as it makes your skin more of a “blank canvas” to work with. Makeup lies more smoothly on the skin as well, making this a perfect treatment for your wedding day look.

Chemical peel treatment before and after

Chemical Peels

Chemical peels promote exfoliation, stimulate collagen and elastin production, improve skin texture, and reveal a more youthful complexion by carefully removing the top layer of skin. Chemical peels come in a variety of formulations that can be tailored to your skin’s specific needs. Our favorites are the BioRePeel and VI peels.

DiamondGlow Microdermabrasion: DiamondGlow is an advanced form of microdermabrasion that involves a three-step process: exfoliation, extraction, and infusion. The diamond-tipped wand gently exfoliates the skin, while a simultaneous suction process extracts impurities. Customized serums are then infused into the skin, promoting hydration and addressing specific concerns. A few of the many benefits associated with DiamondGlow at Amélie include brighter skin, unclogged pores, fewer fine lines and wrinkles, and increased skin hydration.

Tip: Don’t forget the rest of your body! Skincare treatments such as chemical peels and DiamondGlow microdermabrasion can be used to treat concerns such as Keratosis Pilaris (KP), acne, and more.

Injectables

Botox and fillers are the most commonly known injectables that are used to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and add volume. There are additional fantastic options that offer benefits like extra hydration, collagen production stimulation, improved skin texture, and more. Skinvive and PRF injections are two well-loved injectables that can help give you a radiant complexion for your wedding day:

Skinvive: Skinvive, while being a hyaluronic acid injectable, is not a filler; it improves skin quality by adding extra hydration while smoothing pores and imperfections. Skinvive’s blurring, effortlessly natural-looking effect also helps makeup to apply more evenly to the skin. Results last up to 6 months!

prf before and after

PRF

Platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) is a formula made of components from your blood – plasma and platelets – that help your body heal and rejuvenate naturally. Blood plasma consists of water and various proteins, while platelets help rebuild tissues after injury and release growth factors. PRF comes in two forms (injections & EZgel) that offer a range of benefits, including improved skin texture and tone, reduced appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, enhanced skin elasticity, and even improved hair growth! PRF’s natural formula stimulates collagen production and cell growth, resulting in a more youthful and radiant complexion. One common injection site is the under-eye area to treat dark circles and sunken eyes.
